Speech and Language Therapy

Change Communication provides life-changing treatment, support and care for adults. We help people who, for physical or psychological reasons, have problems communicating with others. We also help health, housing and care services to adapt their communication to meet the needs of people they support.
We help people understand what communication is and how it works. We explain what things can affect communication and what can be done to make communication work better and feel less stressful.
A crucial aspect of our work is supporting people to access health, support, and other services by reducing barriers that occur because of communication discrimination.
We provide speech and language therapy at no cost to people experiencing homelessness. We can do this because we are provided with grants and funds from organisations such as local authorities, grant making trusts and others.
Our current funded projects are:
Westminster Brain Injury and Communication Project
This project works with people who have communication needs and are experiencing homelessness in the City of Westminster.
We work with people to assesses their communication, identifying strengths and difficulties, and exploring what helps people fully express their needs. The service also makes recommendations to organisations so that they communicate effectively.
As part of this Project, we offer free training on brain injury, communication awareness, and tackling discrimination to homelessness and related services commissioned by Westminster City Council.
This project is funded by Westminster City Council.

Pan-London Communication Support Project
The Pan-London Communication Support Project provides speech and language therapy services for people who have experienced long-term or repeated episodes of rough sleeping across London.
We meet clients where they reside, including streets and other public locations, and spend time understanding their communication strengths and needs. We also support organisations working with the person to consider how they approach communication, making recommendations to optimise both written and spoken interaction so that support work is effective.
This Project is funded by London Councils and London boroughs.
